Niklas van der Wagt is a first-year PhD student in the sociology and demography program. He double-majored in physics and sociology at UCLA, and afterward worked on agent-based models of cellular populations at the Biodynamics Lab at UCSD. He is currently working on incorporating immigration into mathematical models for population momentum, as well as describing uncertainty in fertility decisions. Niklas is also interested in population ethics and the biopolitics of quantification.
